Amazon is rolling out an update today that will bring both reminders and named timers to all Alexa-enabled devices.
"Alexa... remind me to..."
Starting today, you can now say things like “Alexa, remind me to pick up my wife at 4PM” and it will notify you at the proper time. Keep in mind that Alexa still requires you specify AM or PM, unlike other assistants like Siri and Google Assistant.
Another thing of note is that these new reminders are also tied to the specific device you ask, meaning the reminders will not sync across to your other Alexa-enabled devices.
Alexa is also supporting named timers as well, which means you can set a variety of timers for different tasks and then ask Alexa for an update. For example, say you were baking a pie, you could say “Alexa, set a 45-minute timer for my pie.” A few minutes later you could ask “Alexa, how much time is left for my pie?” and Alexa should let you know.
The new features are rolling out today in the US and will be available in the UK and Germany within the next few weeks.
